Music
Karl is a musician as well as a painter — garage soul, border blues, and whatever the room needs. Music and painting come from the same place: San Antonio.
Before the paintings sold, the songs were free. Karl has played in San Antonio garage bands since the late '80s — bass mostly, vocals when nobody stops him — and music remains the other half of the practice. Most paintings in the archive were made with a record playing, and more than a few are named after songs.
The current project is an occasional trio that plays unannounced sets at openings and family parties. There is no album, no streaming link, and no plan. Some things should stay live.
